The Tactile System is the part of our brain that allows us to interpret the sensation of touch. It's what tells our brain how hard or soft something is, whether it's hot or cold, and where we're feeling pressure on our body. Without this system, we wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a silk robe and a wool coat; we wouldn't know if someone was pressing on our hand or if they were pressing down on our chest. It's also responsible for processing pain—so when you get hurt and feel like you want to pull away, that's your tactile system telling you that whatever just happened wasn't good for you.
